Tile and more tile

Apparently mindless work is not the best thing to do when you're grieving. At least it's not if you're me.

I got the tile this weekend; Bev & Don helped me pick it up and move it into the house. One box of tile weighs about 40 pounds, and we had thirty of them to move...plus the 50 pound bags of thinset and the 20 pound bags of grout. So at least I got my weightbearing exercise. And I owe Bev and Don a gourmet meal -- probably Chicken Kiev and Bananas Foster. Which will negate any calories burned (and then some) from carrying in all that tile.

After putting the tile on the floor to see how it will look, prior to actually using any stuff to stick it down, I decided that I probably needed to patch the holes left after pulling up the carpet tack strips since it made a few of the tiles cant to one side or another.

So, pretty much, that's about all I got done this weekend. Move tile around and fill in holes in the concrete. And cry a lot. Sometimes the grief is just like a mental body slam out of left field. Too much work which doesn't require thinking...so all the painful emotions I was avoiding thinking about came out to play.

hehe keef...I like it...since I'm a psych nurse in one of my jobs, I could even advertise it as having professional guidance...

Bananas Foster is a wonderful dish made with bananas, sugar, rum, and butter. You cook it over slow heat and then flame it so the sugar carmelizes and serve it right away over ice cream. Best way to describe it as a food orgasm. :) Not only that, it's easy to make but looks like it isn't.

Mmm... tasty?

I always think while I work, happens a lot when you are just doing tedial tasks. Good inspiration most of the time.

As for tile... I have to move that crap when the tile people get done with it in a new house. They just LEAVE it lying in the MIDDLE of the floor. Stacks of it. Very heavy. Can't break. Hate tile.

Just noticed the link on the side, which I appreciate very much :-) Looks like you may have accidentally broken the tags though!

Fixed 'em Rusty! I'm not exactly what you'd call computer literate. Poor you, having to haul tile...just hauling my own is bad enough. And keef, you really, really need to try bananas Foster and tell me what you think.

Poor Jodie! Still not working ;-)

The link that shows up is -

http://flyinfur.blogspot.com/2005/03/>http://wayfareingstranger.blogspot.com

So for instance, where it says a href=, you would put a href="littlebitrusty.blogspot.com"> then the left pointing wing then /a then the right pointing wing :-)

Wow, I really AM bad at explaining stuff...

So I showed up late. But that was my plan; ha! That way I don't get roped into running the saw nor carrying boxes from point A to over yonder.

Rusty is so right about thinking. Painting isn't rocket science, but I found few can do the job efficiently unless they are constantly thinking ahead.

Plain cooked bananas are up there with skiing and that other three-letter word that ends with an X...I'll think of that one in a minute...but adding rum, eh? Hmmm...
