She's Baa-aack!

The procedure went well, although (as usual) the surgery rooms were way behind so everything was delayed. My 1:30 procedure finally happened around 4, so I was home by 7. The doc used conscious sedation, which is better than a general anesthetic, but did leave me with a terrific headache for most of today. The good news, though, is that I'm walking with very little pain.

The bad news is that it STILL hurts to sit...I don't know why I thought sitting would be pain-free when the procedure consisted of a huge needle piercing my posterior...not once, but twice. But at least it's DIFFERENT pain and should go away. And I've vacuumed, and picked up, and done laundry and dishes...all the things that didn't get done last month without lots of nagging Gavin. Which means mostly they weren't done at all, because nagging makes me crazy.

The doc also tells me that the pain relief is almost certainly temporary, and really more of a diagnostic tool. Since the pain was relieved, that gives him a better idea of exactly what is wrong, and what he can do for a permanent fix.

But heck, I feel GOOD. So I'm happy.

I'm so glad you are feeling better!! What's the long term "fix" to your pain? surgery?

Really good to hear that there's been such immediate improvement, Jodie. And what a change to the atmosphere of the blogosphere you make - the sun's come out! :D

Glad to see your back to blogging. Great to hear that your walking without pain. Hope the dr's can do more good work. What is/was the "problem"? My husband has a degenrative hip and the only solution at this point is total hip replacement. Not favoured at his age (mid 40's). I'm wondering if he could have had some other options if it had been diagnosed a few years earlier.

Got some goodies in the post from my backtack "supplier" and they're going to be transformed into something for you. Any "Boy, I wish I had...." you can comment on?

Jodie,
I'm just now reading your blog but I really should be cramming for my chem final at noon. Just a quick note to say I'm sorry to hear you're down, but glad that it's not for the count!

Hang in there, hon. I'm going to catch up with you and the other bloggers right after my algebra final tonight!

I thought I posted a comment, but maybe I got impatient and didn't give it enough time. :)

Thank you for all the comments! It feels good to be back and WALKING once again -- it's so easy to take that for granted until you can't.

And, my backtack friend, I never have enough hand sewing or embroidery needles...and my last pair of little thread-snipping scissors have disappeared (I think my daughter took them with her when she moved to San Diego)...
